Important changes related to GPS tracking will be made to our Android and iOS mobile apps in the coming weeks.
Indeed, due to changes in the terms of use of Google and Apple, it will no longer be possible to perform GPS tracking at regular intervals from our ProgressionLIVE mobile applications (Android and iOS).
However, be aware that only regular interval tracking is affected, GPS point taking per action, such as when changing state, will not be affected.
Detailed explanation
ProgressionLIVE allowed two methods of GPS tracking:
- At regular intervals (e.g. entering GPS points every 15 minutes)
- By action (e.g. entering GPS points when changing statuses on a task)
Recently, Google (Android) and Apple (iOS) have changed their terms of service in order to increase the level of protection of the personal data of their users. With these new terms of service, it is now very difficult to justify regular interval GPS tracking to Google and Apple. We have therefore decided to no longer support this type of GPS tracking and to comply with their recommendations.
This change will take effect by May 15, 2021.
